All monsters really do have reasons, really can be understood. It’s only us who sometimes can’t find the way to understand them, but we can’t relent, if we’re to be able to grasp and communicate the meaning of a world in which they exist. It’s one reason there are so many flat villains in popular culture – people want to think “monster” is an explanation, when it’s only a label.
