The Overstate is a political construct.

Asher views The Overstate as a cognitive condition and social framework that is the product of the essentially fascist aspirations.

During the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, regular news releases, which often consisted of underground (hacked) news commentaries, came out of The Overstate News Service. Asher is rumored to have had a hand in those releases which bore some resemblance to a cross between The Onion and Wikileaks. These missives revised euphemisms for torture, control, and annihilation that concealed the conversion of human beings into items, commodities, philosophical components, and other objects. While the Overstate is still very much a reality, affecting billions of people globally, Asher eventually pushed the news function toward a wider variety of topics as part of the activities of The Playful Anarchist.

The Playful Anarchist was a podcast in 2010 and 2011, with Asher at the mic.

More recently, Asher has engaged in subversive behavior utilizing social media aimed at the Trump candidacy, his bid for re-election, the January 6th insurrection, the white nationalist movement, mass shooters, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
