Asher on Immigration

If an applicant for US citizenship can pass a test on US government that 25% of high school seniors can’t after 12+ years of ‘education’, maybe the high school student should have to give up his citizenship to the applicant, and re-apply when he can deserve the same status. Anything else favors birth and genealogy over merit and self-determination. At best that’s nationalism – at worst, racism.

It’s fascinating to observe the anti-immigration statists who call themselves “conservatives” seeming to have less trouble with someone like Sarah Palin – who can barely put together a coherent sentence – than they do with little brown people that make their kids look like dolts on a math test. That would seem to make them troglodyte elitists who think “American” values are about privilege and entitlement (even for the civically retarded) over precisely the hard work and self-determination that they’re always harping about.

I especially like all the rhetoric about the “founders of our country” (who were immigrants). If we judged by the professed values of those men, the very people screaming their names would come off as carpetbaggers, and the people with “slant eyes” or “towels on their heads” would be the ideal settlers for the new frontier. Of course, that’s after you exterminate the original non-immigrants who were here (naturally) by birth.

Actually, the only things these pseudo-patriots seem to be calling upon are legality (statism) and birthright (elitism). They show an utter contempt for their own proffered “American values” where status and privilege are lacking – applying two standards – exempting themselves from the virtues, merits, talents, and qualifications that they insist ought to be required of others. Where I come from, we call that hypocrisy. Where they come from, it’s just being Tory. Not “American and patriotic”, but precisely the attitude that opposed the same.

And the only requirement to be a leader among such people has nothing to do with education, understanding, or a knowledge of the world – it is merely that you say the right things, express the right values, but never dare demand that your own constituency or our own citizenry adhere to those ideals – they’re for everyone else – everyone but me and my genealogically identified brethren. They’re not for the masters. Again, Tory.

Oh, and you have to be a Republican. If you’re a Republican, knowledge and intelligence aren’t actually required. Affiliation, the symbolic expression of entitlement and privilege, is everything. But if you’re something else, then we’re just putting up with you until Charlton Heston takes us up into the sky and those Haitians, Democrats, and gay people are afflicted with much-deserved pestilence and pain. God is on the side of those who have the most to say about their government but also know the least about it. God is on the side of those who just feel a natural privilege over the little brown people. God is, at best, a nationalist – at worst, a racist.

What’s funny is that attendance at “Church” – not to mention other religious services – is actually typically higher among most immigrants. Again, the standards aren’t for us – they’re for everyone else. “By that standard you judged, so you will be judged” is only applicable to other people judging. When we judge, we ARE the standard. The ‘conservatives’ are always wondering aloud why the world hates the US but is immigrating here in droves. Then they coyly pat their pocket books and point out the number of shampoos on a shelf at Walmart, as they waddle off stuffing down another corn dog.

If they really believed that rhetoric, they’d welcome open immigration, because you’d just get more ‘conservatives’ and end up outnumbering your opponents. The truth is a little more subtle. Immigration threatens to marginalize the lazy, hypocritical Tories who don’t adhere to their own professed standards – replacing them with hard working, genuine ‘Americans’ who actually do. People who know more about the government of the country they want to live in, people who are more invested in self-improvement than in keeping other people down or out, and people who still believe in the ‘frontier’ concept – that there’s enough pie for everyone if you leave the market open and don’t try to control it. The genuine ‘conservatives’ are coming in droves, and the fakes are scared shitless of… being exposed and embarrassed.

Well… as you may know… that’s what we’re here for. One of the reasons. So fark you, you pathetic posers. You’ve been outed. And remember: you’ll be hearing from us again.
